Spotlight on a global event that promotes building skills
WorldSkills France was first held in 1990, under the name COFOM (French Trade Olympiads Committee).
WorldSkills France’s mission is to promote “apprenticeships, sandwich courses, mobility and youth in the trades”.
The second phase of the National Finals will be taking place
at Eurexpo Lyon, from 13 to 15 January 2022.

46th WorldSkills competition
WorldSkills Competitions are considered to be “the biggest skills championships in the world”. These events, which are held every other year, take place over the course of four days, during which more than 1,000 participants from the four corners of the earth face off.
Close to 50 trades are represented by these young professionals who come to demonstrate their expertise, each in their own category.
Primary objectives of WorldSkills France
The main mission, defined by the WorldSkills International Constitution, is to “promote and facilitate through cooperative action a worldwide awareness of the essential contribution that skills and high standards of competence make to the achievement of economic success and personal fulfilment”.

The 3 stages of the competition
Regional Selections
by WorldSkills France
Organized in every region of France, they aim to select the “top talent for the WorldSkills National Finals” in each of the represented skills categories.
National Finals
by WorldSkills France
This stage is particularly important for the future members of the France Skills Team. Those selected will then demonstrate their expertise over three days of competition. The Finals “bring together nearly 700 regional champions from across France”.
International Finals
by WorldSkills Lyon 2024
Champions from around the world face off during this last stage. In 2024, the city of Lyon will be hosting the world finals of this skills competition!
